My enthusiasm for the Big Girl Bed has plummeted. On Sunday, I was practically shouting BIG GIRL BED into telephones and at neighbors, with an expression of glee on my face. Now, day 2, I am weary.
Last night Coco and I engaged in a long, winner-less struggle before she finally succumbed to sleep at about 10 PM. It was a long night with varying proportions of:
High-level reasoning: “You’re a Big Girl now. Can you show me how you can be a Big Girl and fall asleep in your new bed?”
Begging: “Mommy needs to read now, will you please, please go to sleep.”
Shouting: “Get into your bed!”
Crying
During one of our “peace talks” she said, in an apologetic tone, “I’m sorry you yelled at me, Mommy.”

I thnk those are my genes. I also don’t like to go to bed. And honestly, I tend to be more sorry that someone felt the need to yell at me than sorry for whatever I supposedly did.

i’m telling you – get some serious mosquito netting and nail it to the bedframe – or one of those “bed tents” from the 80s and padlock the zippered entrance. she wont be able to escape! i always loved going to bed. she doesn’t know what she’s missing!

Does your own bedroom have a lock? That’s what works for us! We go into our own room and lock the door. He may wander around the house occasionally, but he usually gives up and goes to bed after a short while. I am dreading the day when he learns how to pick locks!
